The Hope & Awakening Series
For quite some time now, I have been toying with the idea of making a few pieces inspired by Van Gough's paintings of flowering branches against a bright blue sky, and in particular "Almond Blossom" (1890). His works symbolize hope and awakening, and as trees began to flower in the spring of 2020, I found the timing perfect and sentiment relevant. There are three versions of each (examples at bottom of page) - a photograph, a "digital painting" created from the photograph, and finally the ultimate result- a hybrid of photography with a bit of digital painting to acknowledge Van Gough's influence on the series.
