Learn how to use your DSLR at your own pace, learning what YOU want to learn about photography! Whether you would like to take better photos of your friends and family, take great travel, nature or landscape photos, or learn about composition, flash and lighting, Melanie can coach you toward your goals, while helping you find your photographic "voice".
Start with a 90-minute session to acquaint you with your camera and settings ( no more "AUTO"!!) and follow up with as many 1-hour sessions as you like. Melanie will tailor the subjects covered to suit your needs.
Initial 90-minute session: $175
Follow-up 1-hour sessions: $75 each.

Intro to Digital Photography I: Unlocking the Mysteries of Your Digital Camera
This workshop will help you understand how to use the settings on your Digital SLR camera to take better photos! You will also learn tricks of composition and focus, plus how to take great indoor photos without using a flash. Also get an overview of lenses and their uses. Whether you are taking family photos, picking up photography as a hobby, or wondering if photography is something you'd like to pursue, this workshop will help you understand basic principles of photography and allow you to take more polished, professional looking shots!

Intro to Digital Photography II: Subject Matter, Composition & an Overview of Lighting
Students will build on their knowledge from Workshop I and turn their attention to the details of making better photographs. We will discuss subject matter, mood and contrast in images, composition and touch on lighting techniques and considerations.
Prerequisite: Intro to Digital Photography I: Unlocking the Mysteries of your DSLR. Students with a knowledge of their cameras and basic principles of working with a DSLR may join, at the discretion of the instructor.
